The Poetry of Janet Lanton with photography by Darkershadesofbrown

Janet and I were sitting down last week and talking about photography and poetry and how well suited they were for each other on many different levels. Those of you who know my wife know how truly talented of a writer she is. We have often thought of making a book with my pictures and her photography and this may be the first step towards putting something like that together.

Once a month Janet is going to take a picture of mine and write something for it. It’s a way for both of us to excersise our creativity and hopfully it is something that some of you can come to appreciate.

Under the categories section of this blog you will be able to find a section called Poetry by Janet Lanton and I will archive all the projects we work on together.

Feel free to stop in and give some love…..

I don’t know why it always surprises me when

someone is unexpectantly sweet & warm

I guess a hug just means so much

Theres something about it that cutsthrough walls & cordialities

It wraps around you like a snug blanket

Leaving you feeling cared for

It is heart language

Wrap your arms around someone

                                                             un

                                                                          expectantly

Don’t let thoughts of propriety stop you

Just give with your heart

and others will sense the love in the embrace

What is it that you desire deeply, in your innermost being?

A craving that cannot be listed in profiles or diets

What is it that moves you on the inside

That makes you melt inside

That makes you feel like your cup is overflowing?

For me, it sounds so trite, I know…

but its to be held

When Daniel wraps his arms around me

I feel safe & protected

valued & cherished

vulnerable & adored

I don’t have to be strong

I can just rest in his strength

and when God holds me

I feel at rest & complete

& I begin to see my cup overflow
