Behind the scenes here at Darkershadesofbrown.

I get a ton of questions from people about where I get the inspiration for my photography so I thought I would give you a behind the scenes look at what we do at Darkershadesofbrown photography to keep ourselves fresh and inspired.

Wedding photography is a bit behind the times here in PA. Most of the people who want to provide for a family end up moving to a warmer climate as they can work pretty much all year round and keep their schedules full every week. I tend to love Pennsylvania so my wife and I decided to make it our home a few years ago. Honestly, I am sometimes saddened by my lack of piers to share and collaborate with. About a year ago Kristy Rice from Rice Ink whom I did not know contacted and hired me to do some work for her website. For those of you who follow my blog you know that we have become friends over the last year. I think we tend to both inspire each other and I have really enjoyed getting to know the girls of rice ink over the last 12 months.

The girls of Momental Designs (Rice Ink)

A few weeks ago I received an email from Kristy Rice over at Momental Designs located in Forty Fort Pa about 15 miles from my house. Kristy mentioned that she stumbled on my website by accident and became an instant fan. At the time neither one of us knew that the other existed and after reading her email I headed over to her website to take a look at her work.

The moment my mouse clicked over my mind blew up from all the awesome I was looking at. Many of her wedding invitation designs have been featured in the Knot and she has positioned herself as an expert in the area of custom wedding invitation design so I highly recommend giving her a call to see her work and chat with her team as to how they can turn your invitations into pieces of artwork.

I spent a few hours with them yesterday collecting images for their new website launch that will be coming out shortly and was so excited when kristy specifically told me that she was looking for something different with a message that communicated what they are. A crazy fun artistic group of girls who do amazing work.

It wasn’t to difficult for them to just be who they are

Lady Vintique

You know me… When I see something that I love I have to tell people about it so here is the coolest place on the Internet to find vintage headpieces for a wedding.  I just ordered one myself for an upcoming shoot this month so please spare me some change and order one for your wedding.

Serendipity Salon and Day Spa in Scranton PA Owner Nicole Shotto

Vendor Spotlight:

I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Serendipity Salon and Day Spa located in Dickson City PA and have enjoyed the experience so much that I thought I would give a shout out to the owner Nicole Shoto. Nicole has been in the business for about 16 years and two years ago she opened up shop in Dickson City and started serving the greater community in Scranton with a bit of style we lacked around here.

If you are getting married or just want to get treated like a queen for a day I highly suggest giving them a call.
