One of the things I love doing is collaborating with other vendors from time to time and today Dorian and I from Central Park Flowers put together a tabletop for some print advertising that he has been working on for the Scranton market. When it comes to vendors you guys know I am very stingy when it comes to recommendations. If you’re looking for floral and or table arrangements for your wedding…
Don’t even bother with anyone else
Just get in touch with Dorian.
He constantly blows my mind with his designs.

It’s that time of year… The holidays are full of food, fun and oh yes the camera is inevitably pulled out and those awkward photos start coming. This year Darkershadesofbrown Photography wants to see those pictures from yesteryear. We will be offering a $75 gift certificate to Best Buy for the most ridiculous picture you send us. That’s right! We want to see them… we want you to look through that shoe box or hard drive and find a picture to send in to us. The winner will be announced on Christmas day via our blog.
Don’t limit the fun to just yourself. You can forward this email on to your friends and family by clicking on the forward button on the bottom of this email. I will be limiting the entries to three per email address.
May the fun begin….
Awaiting your photos…
~Daniel~

One of the most common questions I get from a potential client deals with the hours I work on their wedding day. I think people are automatically trained to think that photographers only work 5 hour days. It’s really a shame that this has become typical of wedding photographers as many of the best moments from a wedding are captured early in the morning while everyone is getting ready.
I made it a practice early on in my career that I would put in 12 hours at every wedding. I don’t sell packages of blocks of time. How a photographer can claim to have a photojournalistic approach to weddings while they force you to do everything in five hours just doesn’t make any sense to me.
This wedding was unique for me as the bride let me know that she had three sets of grandparents at her wedding that she wanted me to spend some time photographing.
As with all weddings I started out the day early and then something beautiful happened.

I met this woman…..

I spent the better part of five minutes just staring at her with my lens from far away.

The way she steamed one of the dresses for the wedding just about made me cry.

These hands…..
Beautiful…..

My favorite ring shot of the day.

I did not have the privilege of my grandmother being able to attend my wedding.
This wedding made me long for mine.
