Rebecca & Chris’s E session in New York City

I met Rebecca about a year ago when she was on the hunt to find herself a wedding photographer. Both of these wonderful people are from North Carolina but met each other down in New York when they were going to college. We had about a two and a half hour ride back and forth into New York yesterday and really had the great opportunity to get to know each other before this session began. I can’t tell you how much of a difference it makes when I have a chance to figure a couple out in my mind before I start taking their pictures.  Every couple has their moment when they relax and just let things happen but because we had the opportunity to get to know each other on the ride down the magic happened right when we hopped out of the car. It was important for them to have New York as the backdrop for their session. We walked around the streets they use to live on and ate at a restaurant right across the street from their old apartment. I wish all my couples could find places that had such meaning. It really felt like they were opening up their lives to me as they told me stories of their old neighborhood. I honestly forgot at times that I was there to actually do a job.

These next few shots were taken in front of their old apartment.

Stacia and I met last year for the first time when she was looking for a wedding photographer and it was probably one of the more memorable consultations I have ever been on. All I can say is that she was thrilled we were going to be working together. I love it when people let me know how excited they are to be working with us.

This fun couple is getting married later this year and we are beyond excited about working with them. They’re just really cool people who make us enjoy what we do and remind us why we do it.

Stephanie & Chad In Washington DC

Stephanie & Chad invited me down to Washington for their engagement pictures last week and when I first arrived at their house I was exhausted. It’s a four hour Drive to DC from Scranton and although I love traveling I knew I had a 4 hour drive back home after their session. Thank God this couple was totally awesome to work with. We must have walked about 6 miles while in DC that day going from monument to monument as the Washington Mall is a place that holds great meaning to both of them.

When I first stepped in the front door of their home this sign was the first thing I saw.  It was just hanging in the window as if waiting for me. Stephanie & Chad are in the process of renovating their home that they purchased recently and although I don’t think they saw me take this picture it’s probably one of my favorite images from their session.

Maybe someday as they look back they may feel the same way.

Thanks for the being such good hosts and taking me out for dinner that night. Can’t wait for your wedding at skytop next year.

Save The Date Cards

One of the coolest parts of my job is helping people design “Save The Date Cards” for their wedding. This couple is from DC and invited me down to the Washington Mall for their engagement session this week. This is one of the options I designed for them that kind of melted my brain a bit.

Just thought I would throw something different on the blog today as this is a service that I offer as part of our wedding packages.

For information on how we can do something like this for your wedding feel free to email me at Dlanton@darkershadesofbrown.com and we can make it happen for you.
