Date night

So it’s no big secret that the JJ and I are “tree huggers”. We pretty much would live on the Appalachian trail if we could. Have a conversation with either one of us for very long and somehow it will end up about hiking. It’s a passion that we have shared for most of our marriage and this has been the first time in a few months that it was warm enough to really enjoy a good day hike.

It’s pretty rare these days for me to have a Saturday without work so we had to hit the trail and get some fresh air in our lungs.

All hikers on the east coast recognize these white blazes. They are our guiding light.

Deep breaths.

The adorable JJ

A good day!

Spring is near.

March 7, 2010 - 3:37 pm Anna Gibson - looks like a great day.. and today is another lovely one.. We (my husband and I) need to get into hiking more. And plus we have a dog that would love it too.. I have hiked quite often with just her, but it's so much nicer to get him out and share the experience. Glad you two did.. and Daniel, you are looking good man, can totally tell you've lost weight, and it's made you look younger (and prolly feel younger too).. way to go man.

Sculpted blooms

This past week I collaborated with Kristy Rice from Momental Designs and Anne-Marie Scali from Perfect bound on a sculpted bloom session in and around Scranton PA. Both Kristy and Anne-Marie have incredible taste and contacted me about a month ago to begin the process of thinking about how we wanted to portray their designs.

Big shout out to my assistants “The Bryan” and “The Bradley” for helping me out with this shoot and taking some awesome images.

Love these hand made paper blooms.  Truly an inspirational concept I have  not seen being done anywhere in the wedding industry today.

Anne Marie’s sense of color and style is unmatched as far as I am concerned.

Sarah & Alex at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn

Sarah & Alex were married at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg PA this past Saturday and I have to say that I truly loved getting to know this couple over the last couple of days. They live in Montana which just happens to be the place my wife and I dream of raising our children.

That’s not a proclamation now folks…. JJ and I are still DINKS…

Alex and Sarah were kind enough to invite JJ and I up for a night of tubing down Shawnee mountain the night before the wedding. As you can imagine we enjoyed ourselves.

Here are a few pictures from their day here in the Poconos.

Sarah just glowed all day long and it began to interfere with the light meter on the top of my camera :)

63 Candles.

Peace & Love,

~Daniel~

February 11, 2010 - 8:49 am Anna Gibson - Such a happy bride! I like all the prep photos with the crazy DOF and comps.. well done.. great job with the lighting in the last couple shots! how did you do those candle shots without having the candles blown out? Take care Anna

February 11, 2010 - 5:57 pm Daniel Lanton - Anna, I used a flash light of sorts and manually exposed for skin tones. ~Daniel~

February 13, 2010 - 12:53 am Paige + Blake - that is such a cute bride!

February 22, 2010 - 1:39 pm Shannon - Those candle shots are priceless. Luv luv!

Tablescape featured in TheRuffledblog.com

A few months back I was contacted by my friend and colleague Kristy Rice from Momental Designs here in NEPA to photograph a few tablescape ideas that had been rolling around in her head for the better part of a year. Living here in NEPA can be tough when trying to collaborate with other wedding vendors in the area. NEPA seems to be 10 years behind everything around here.  I met Kristy about a year ago when she contacted me to get some pictures for her website and immediately found a kindred spirit of sorts. Kristy introduced me to Dorian Butovich from Central Park Flowers here in Scranton and we ended up designing two tablescape sessions of which I am sharing one of today. Those of you who follow my blog may have seen the ridiculously awesome designs he comes up with. If you haven’t seen his work you can see some of it by clicking  here on my blog.

This morning I was made aware that these pictures are featured on the Ruffledblog.com. For those of you in the wedding industry the Ruffledblog is probably one of the top 10 blogs to follow in the U.S. If you’re feeling short of inspiration and need to find something inspiring to get the creative juices flowing Ruffledblog is the place to go.

You can see the full blog post on TheRuffledblog by clicking here.

There are so many pictures from this session that could be shared so I thought I would post a few more for those who want to see them….

The following vendors made this happen. Without any one of them this would not have been possible.
Table Designer and Stationer: Kristy Rice of Momental Designs
Floral Design: Central Park Flowers
Cake: Cathy Reppert, Truly Scrumptious
Venue: The Cottage at Hillside Farms, Dallas, Pennsylvania
Linens: LaTavola Linens
